ProCEEd and its strategic partners, many of whom are organizations committed to EEAN today, have produced newspaper columns at the national level which readers in Lao PDR follow regularly.
Vientiane Times and Paxason particularly address the international community as well as national political and economic decision makers in the country. The nationwide print media activities have supported ProCEEd's objective that knowledge, attitudes and behavior related to the environment, biodiversity and climate change in Laos will improve through better access to relevant information. Many of the Vientiane Times and Paxason readers are national political and economic decision makers who should be empowered to better mitigate and adapt to climate change and risks, and protect biodiversity and the environment in general.
In addition to a steady supply of articles on a variety of environmental topics and project activities, ProCEEd has provided series of three articles each on climate change, co-management of National Protected Areas, forest protection and wildlife conservation to both newspapers. The project has also supported the newspapers with capacity development. For example, Lao print and broadcasting journalists participated in a one-week advanced training on environmental journalism with a renowned German and Thai colleague in 2014.
